Services
Great Beginnings is a full service preschool where we care and teach children from 18 months to six years old. Our classes are grouped according to age and are guided by teachers educated and experienced in giving your child the highest care and attention. Our teachers create interactive class settings, which include challenging activities, enriching materials, all in a supportive environment.
Curriculum
At Great Beginnings we provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on a child-centered perspective that acknowledges your child as a whole: a social, cognitive, emotional, and physical individual. We create an environment which will motivate your child to discover and apply new skills. Children become active learners though play; our teachers will observe your child and respond to inquiries and activities initiated by him/her.
How do our teachers promote social, cognitive, emotional, and physical growth?
- Social: Social skills are learned through circle time discussions and interactions with the teachers and their peers. Your child will learn how to initiate or manage social interactions inside and outside the classroom with various staff, peers and parents. And will be encouraged to make decisions and to consider how their actions affect others.
- Cognitive: Our teachers consider their classroom setting a rich opportunity to learn. They create challenging activities using enriching materials while providing supportive assistance. Your child will be encouraged to be an active participant in subjects such as math, reading and phonics.
- Emotional: Various artwork activities, storytelling and group exercises are selected to enhance self-esteem and self-expression which in turn creates a safe environment for emotional growth.
- Physical: Our staff understands the physical changes each child goes through. We keep in mind the wide individual differences in the rates at which children grow. Our students practice karate, yoga, dance and have outside play time.
Our staff strives to build an extraordinary relationship with your child and you. Because your child has its own needs and learning style, we will adapt our curriculum to meet his/her demands. You will be informed and included in all decisions regarding your child’s’ needs. We welcome and encourage your input in creating the best learning environment possible.
At Great Beginnings we believe your child is a special part of the human existence and is a valuable part of life. Research is continuing to find that the early learning years form the foundation for later development.
Great Beginnings is where a lifetime of learning begins.
