Great Beginnings is a community preschool committed to teaching and caring for the young children of diverse families in North Hollywood, California and surrounding areas. Since 2008, we have provided an exceptional quality, all-day, year-round early education program to children from two to six years old. We teach your children how we would teach our own. Our safe learning environment consists of caring administrators, qualified teachers, committed parents, and exceptional children.
Our goal is to encourage curiosity through hands-on explorational learning and to always focus on each child’s individuality. We respect the learning process by giving your child the attention and tools he/she needs to develop at their own pace, in their own unique way.
Our days are well balanced between structured teacher-led activities and free choice child-led play and social time. The early morning hours between 6:30 am to 9:00 am are completely devoted to indoor and outdoor social play. From September through June our program begins at 9:00 am or 9:30 am, depending on age, with children participating in morning community circle time. This time offers invaluable class bonding. Afterward, children transition to table time where teachers introduce new concepts and lead daily art projects. As children individually finish up this portion of their day they transition to center-based free play like blocks and manipulatives, library and pretend play. After lunch (learn more about our meal program) in the afternoon portion of our day, children delve deeper into social free play allowing ample time to engage with and learn from each other. It is during social play that children, with our guidance, learn kindness and empathy and the importance of community.
To further enrich your child’s experience we offer weekly music and dance classes which promote self-expression and gross motor development. All students are included and taught overall body movement awareness as well as rhythm and melody through dance and music. Our music and dance teachers put together four fantastic shows during the year. We welcome all parents, family, and friends to join us for these special moments.
